The Expand Exposure Fund
Exposure Magazine was founded in December of the year 2014. Our first magazine issue was mailed out to our subscriber base of 173 in February 2015. 173 people believed enough in what we were trying to do to visit readexposure.com/subscribe. From then to now, we have grown to more than 1,300 subscribers, have an average of 6,000 digital downloads of monthly issues, and being loyally read across 39 states (90% of which are in Louisiana). We have our amazing community to thank for all of this success.
Being that Exposure Magazine is a subscriber-based, free publication we depend on advertising revenue to keep the lights on, build and print the magazine, pay writers, photographers, designers, sales staff, editors, postage, marketing, and events. This can, for obvious reasons, sometimes cause a strain when it comes to expanding territories. But, we have to let anyone who wants to read the stories written by our local writers read them. So we come to you asking that you consider donating to Exposure Magazine's cause. Help a little Lake Charles magazine take its first steps toward becoming statewide.
They can take a few (thousands) copies of Exposure out of Lake Charles, but they can never take Lake Charles out of Exposure.
How will the expansion effect you? Well, you will still see a local section in every issue that deals directly with our home city of Lake Charles, complete with local business/artist spotlights and news. With a further reach into our state, we will be able to bring you new and interesting perspectives. Not to mention, brag about how awesome Lake Charles is to our neighbors like a bunch of proud people. We will also be expanding our content offerings. Where we used to give you magazines in print and digital form, we will now give you magazines in print and digital form and videos/webisodes, podcasts, and streaming interviews. But wait, there's more! We will also be figuring out how to put .gifs into physical copies of the magazine (not for real though, that would be impossible without the use of a flip book).
Nobody is certain where it could go from here, but the next step would be having a locally run publication, in your hometown, go statewide. After that, we might be looking to go national! If you can, please support The Expanding Exposure Fund by following the link below.
