Psy's Newest Music Video, and What It Probably Means

By Calvin Tyler

A Little About Myself

I've met a lot of people in my short life, but I've never met Psy. To my knowlege, I've never even been in the same room as Psy. He's kind of a mystery, which is all the more reason to watch and study everything he says, wears, and does within the trippy universes he creates that are his music videos. His latest contribution to humanity is Napal Baji. What is a Napal Baji? I searched long and hard for an answer but found out that there is no information on the subject. This is causing my paranoia to grow making me feel as though I am rising from my slumber out of a partially made bed.

Psy is Short for Psychic Abilities, Obviously

At the 0:29 mark we see Psy magically putting his clothes on over his pajamas as to say, "I'm a magician, but I'll always remember where I came from." This is prophetic in more ways than one. And, like many great leaders of the past, Psy himself seems to be claiming that he is dope as hell by being godlike. He's so ready to be awesome his outfit throws itself on him. Damn.

Everybody Poops...Except for the Great and Powerful Psy

Now at the 0:56 mark of the video (less than one minute) Psy mocks us puny mortals by sitting atop the porcelain throne with the largest role of tp I've ever seen, not even pooping. Like the scene before, is Psy trying to tell us that he's more than human? Still unsure we march forward, deeper into the land, idea, or whatever of Napal Baji.

He Kills for His Message

Anyone who's anyone who's thought they were special in that more-than-human kind of way has probably been guilty of killing in the name of themselves. So, it should come as no surprise that Psy constantly displays his ability to be merciless. In Napal Baji, at the 1:25 mark we watch as Psy blows up a car as a demonstration of his commitment.

You'll probably notice in that the middle image shows the car with no passengers before Psy detonates the explosives. Maybe he was saying, "I'm a sweet guy, but don't you dare anger me," or, he was just pointing out that he cares so little about other's lives that it's as if they don't truly exist...to Psy at least.

The Only Logical Conclusion

Maybe, and most likely, I'm just misreading the whole thing. It could just be that Psy is an artist who expresses himself through visual nonsense. Either way, it's highly unlikely that I'll ever meet him and get to ask what his plans are for the humans race. Here's to hoping we're not all doomed.
